Covid rocked everything…

We’re proud to announce that we have been selected as a Finalist in the Broadland and South Norfolk Business Awards 2022. These Awards were set up to recognise and celebrate the amazing array of successful businesses in the area. We all know that the past months have been challenging for us all; but many businesses have not just survived but have even thrived, us included. The 2022 Awards have, therefore, seen 5 brand new categories this year to help recognise how local businesses have continued to prove themselves to be adaptable, innovative and excelled at supporting those communities that have supported them. The Wildebeest is a Finalist in the Business Resilience category and will go forward to the Awards Ceremony on 23rd March at Norwich City Football Club.

Our story

When the world was rocked by Covid, we knew that doing nothing wasn’t an option. We wanted to protect our team, support our suppliers and continue to be able to offer our customers the chance to dine with us should they choose, albeit in their own homes. We set up our DINE@HOME Click & Collect experience where customers could simply heat, plate and enjoy their favourite Wildebeest dishes at home. It offered people comfort in uncertain times and was viewed as a dining treat that people could look forward to.

It was, of course, such a pleasure once we were able to welcome diners back to dine with us in person. As for DINE@HOME, a scaled back version continues to be offered today* due to its ongoing popularity.

It was great to read the comments from Councillor Lisa Neal, South Norfolk’s Cabinet Member for Stronger Economy who said ‘the district is home to so many successful businesses, from multi-national organisations, cutting-edge tech and bio science companies to a wide range of independent shops and traders. The pandemic has caused our business community so many difficulties, from forced closures to problems with supply chains, but they are bouncing back. I am so impressed with how they have overcome the recent challenges and am delighted we can support and promote their hard work and dedication through our awards.” We look forward to the night of the Awards Ceremony and will be keeping our fingers crossed.
